The recurrent health-themed articles in the press make everyone aware of various chemical terminology. For example, how many people throw around the terms “free radical” or “antioxidant”? Although those terms have certain health connotations that can be understood without reference to their specific chemical definitions, that kind of understanding is limited, at best. Luckily, we have chemistry students and chemistry professors to teach them. This lab on “Redox Titrations” is an example of the deeper understanding critical to establishing a framework for improving a situation. Like nearly every chemistry lab, it depends upon an analytical balance.
