Students Aren’t the Only Ones Who Need to Pass University Exams
July 11th, 2012
To become accredited, universities need to verify they have the lab equipment necessary to educate their students.
Luckily for the sanity of human resource departments, you can’t just paint a sign outside your door stating you’re awarding degrees in reaction chemistry and get yourself an accreditation. You need to prove your program meets high standards and has internal mechanisms by which to evaluate the program’s effectiveness at meeting those standards. So it is that Auburn University needed to not just create a program in polymer and fiber engineering, but to verify the program works. Of course, part of the accreditation involves evaluating the facilities and equipment, including such apparatus as calorimeters, fiber spinners, and moisture analyzers.
