Ultrasonic Cleaning is Way Easier Than Steel Wool and Elbow Grease

July 16th, 2012

If you’ve got a 35-year-old motorcycle with carburetors that have never been cleaned, you should pop them in an ultrasonic cleaner and watch the gunk shoot off the grime-encrusted surfaces. You can disassemble them, submerge them under the surface of the cleaner, and let the cavitation-driven cleaning effect scour those surfaces so you don’t have to. I can hear you already: it’s easy to say, but where’s the proof? Glad you asked, because you can see for yourself in this video. The only thing missing is the final reveal, where the full carb assembly is pulled out of the solution, gleaming and shiny. We’ll find the sequel.

Hi Rich, great video! I just ordered a small ultrasonic cleaner and I’m looking for the advise on what solution to use for cleaning gummed up carburators for my dirt bike.
      Thank you in advance.
