“Cleaning is the first and most critical step in breaking the chain of disease transmission.” So begins this video on the importance of cleaning in a clinical environment. To a background of various manual and automated cleaning procedures (including use of ultrasonic cleaners), the video goes on to define the purpose of cleaning as “[to] remove all visible debris and reduce the number of particulates, microorganisms and potential pathogens that cause illness.” No wonder it’s given such emphasis. The video also briefly introduces the different classes of cleaning agents: water, detergents, enzymes, and enzymatic detergents.
