To Sample Suspended Solids: Filter and Weigh
March 8th, 2013If you’re looking to measure the total suspended solids in a water sample, and you don’t know what the heck you’re doing, then you’ll be grateful for the guidance offered in a standard operating procedure from Villanova University. The procedure outlines a filter-paper weighing process. We’ve seen the general process before — filter a liquid, capturing the filtrate on filter paper. With the filter paper weighed prior to the process then after capturing the filtrate, the accurate measurement provided by the analytical balance allows a correct estimate for a suspended solids value.
The whole procedure is at www3.villanova.edu.
