Study Describes Evaluation Criteria for Deciding to Host Blood Bank
February 16th, 2012
Without a blood bank refrigerator, you don't have a blood bank!
Although large military facilities have their own blood collection and storage facilities, many smaller facilities depend on cooperative arrangements with blood banks to meet their needs. In 1985, a Baylor University Master’s thesis reported on the development of an evaluation protocol—a process whereby the risks and benefits associated with the two options could be formally weighed to guide the decision of whether or not to rely on cooperative agreements with outside blood banks. One of the factors in the evaluation is the cost and logistics of maintaining the required facilities, including blood bank refrigerators.
