Rules for the Use of Analytical Balances
February 21st, 2012
Users should take some time to learn about the proper use of analytical balance.
Analytical balances are “possibly the most accurate and precise measuring instrument found in any laboratory,” that according to the University of Connecticut’s “Rules for the Use of Analytical Balances.” In addition to being precise and accurate, analytical balances are also ubiquitous—they’re in introductory chemistry labs everywhere. That means, of course, that there are thousands of beginners turned loose to use them with little preparation. That’s why the University not only puts out this document, but also requires students to take a mini-orientation class before they’re given permission to use the balances.
