The unique turret-style design provides continuous picking, inoculation, washing and sterilization.  Picking speeds of 5000 to 7200 colonies per hour are typically achieved.

Advanced algorithms and a controlled light source enhance effectiveness of blue-white discrimination and colony recognition. Superior image processing yields the industry’s best “no grow” rates and best harvest yields.  A no grow rate of <1% is typical, and >90% of pickable colonies are identified and picked.

The stationary picking station allows for automatic loading and unloading of both source and destination plates with standard plate moving systems such as the Plate Crane, Twister 2 and others.

The Norgren CP-7200 has the smallest footprint of any colony picker available today.  At only 21" w x 17"d x 20" h, the CP-7200 easily fits on lab benches, in a hood, on a mobile cart or even a desk. 

Novice users easily run common picking runs with stored configuration files.  Power users find the system open and flexible; parameters can be calibrated and changed on the fly.  A manual software mode is available for selecting/deselecting colonies.  Titanium needles are easily changed by the user when necessary.
